A number of years ago,  I  was having a conversation with my accountant during our quarterly meeting.

“My GOD Mike, you put $10,000 into marketing last month!”

“Yes, I did, but I also had a direct 5:1 return on investment”, I exclaimed.

“Oh, well…ah…er…I guess that makes sense then”, he quipped.

It’s been my experience, after coaching hundreds of doctors worldwide, that those who are willing to invest in their business, are also the ones who come out ahead of the game in growth and profitability.

When I analyze a practice, one of the key indicators to success is a doctor who understands the nature of practice as a business, and will invest in key factors such as team training, service, marketing and his or her office.

Ten years ago I was attending an Anthony Robbins event called Life Mastery.  I was sitting at the back of the room…I mean the very back corner of 5,000 people, and Tony was speaking on the number one challenge that most businesses struggle with…TEAM.  

His messages resonated with me, because at the time I had 8 team members to manage in an extremely busy practice.  And like many doctors who deal with staff or multiple team members, there seems to be a constant battle with managing your people.
